About the Trek

A sacred lake, a serious climb

The Satopanth Lake Trek is a high-altitude journey through the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, culminating at the sacred Satopanth Tal โ€” a glacial lake said to be visited by Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

You'll walk through glacial moraine, alpine meadows and river valleys, past Vasundhara Falls and the Alkapuri Glacier, with Chaukhamba's snow wall as a constant companion. It's demanding โ€” long trekking days at altitude โ€” and it rewards you with views very few trekkers ever see.

Departing from Rishikesh, returning to Rishikesh. Everything in between โ€” stay, meals, guides, permits, ground transport โ€” is handled by our team on the ground in Joshimath.
